Current Local Scholarships 2023 • Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation Scholarship Application – Due February 1, 2023, must be completed online. Greater Kanawha Valley: https://tgkvf.org/scholarship-information/ • Trap Hill Alumni Scholarship Application – Due February 17, 2023, the application must be submitted online and you will need the recommender’s email. The application is in Class of 2023 updates in Schoology. Trap Hill Alumni: https://forms.gle/cKm3B6Ts5qjxyKY89 • Beckley Area Foundation – Due March 1, 2023, must be completed online and you will need the recommender’s email. Beckley Area Foundation: https://www.bafwv.org/how-to-apply.html • Liberty Foundation – Opens January 17th, due February 24th, must be completed online. You will need your updated GPA and Student Aid Report from FAFSA to complete. https://forms.gle/nwRziEdNGFrzpmba8 • J. Lee Scholarship now available and due March 17, 2023. Application can be found in your Class of 2023 Updates. You should be able to type in the document and save as “your name J Lee Scholarship” and you can send to the counselors to print out. A paper copy is available from the counselors if you need it. • Albert Yanni Scholarship is available and due March 1, 2023 for students that have completed a CTE program in high school. ACT classes, agriculture, business, social work, and the cabinetmaking classes are all CTE classes. The document with more information is in your Schoology Class of 2023 updates. • Joetta Lilly Memorial Scholarship – must be completed online and you will need the recommender’s email – for a 2 year or less programs (for example, ACT, New River, and BridgeValley programs) – you must include a document that lists your community service during high school. https://forms.gle/B13HjP1SzyFk1TeZ7 • Little General Application – Due February 24th, will need to be completed online. You will need a list of accomplishments and activities that you have completed. You will need your Raleigh County Schools email. You will also need 3 references with their name, occupation, address, and phone number. The ACE application will be available at ACT when you register for classes. Contact ACT to see if you need to take the TABE or TEAS test for your program of choice. • Promise Scholarship, for 4-year programs in WV. You have until the summer ACT/SAT exams to get the needed scores. See counselors if you need help registering for exam, or if you need a waiver. We have helped all seniors that were grade eligible in the fall to complete this scholarship. COMPLETE YOUR FAFSA IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY! MANY SCHOLARSHIPS WILL NOT AWARD YOU MONEY IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE FAFSA. If you are a senior that needs an updated transcript to apply for the Greater Kanawha Valley Scholarships that are due tomorrow, please email Ms. Hampton at ehampton@k12.wv.us ASAP. The rank that will be listed on this transcript is not official and should be ignored. With the new system, we are not sure when Parchment transcripts and rank will be available. Please be patient with the counselors as what we need for these has to come from the state dept. We will still meet with seniors to help complete scholarships and they can sign up at the link below. We are going to meet with the seniors that have signed up previously that we had to reschedule. This past weekend four band members represented LHS at Concord University’s 3rd Annual Honor Band. The students had to go through an audition to compete for their seats. Results were: Seth Jenkins 1st chair alto sax in Maroon Band, Cory Johnson 2nd chair trombone Grey Band, Christie Chappell 6th chair Flute Grey Band, and Jacob Tolliver 2nd chair Clarinet in Grey Band. Congratulations Raiders!!

Congratulations to our girls today at our first annual Lady Raider Rumble! Rylei Belcher, Karlie Osborne, and Kassidi Richardson each placed first in their weight classes; London Cook and Lucy Farris each placed second in their weight classes; and Jenna Panossian and Maddy Lucas each placed third in their weight classes. A special thanks to our boys for running the tournament today and to our amazing parents for donating their time, food, and drinks for concession.
